Man Dies After Boat Capsizes At Captree State Park: Police
The victim was recovered from beneath the vessel after it capsized near the Captree State Park piers, police say.
BAY SHORE, NY — A 58-year-old man died after his boat capsized at Captree State Park Friday night, New York State Police said.
State Police, New York State Parks Police, Suffolk County Marine Patrol and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the Captree State Park piers at about 8:37 p.m. Aug. 7 after receiving reports of a boating incident, police said.
Investigators determined that the man had been attempting to launch his 16-foot Boston Whaler when the vessel was seen striking the docks multiple times before capsizing, according to police.

The man's body was recovered from underneath the vessel, police said.
He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to State Police.

Police did not immediately release the man's identity.
The incident remains under investigation.
