Chaos On I-684 In Westchester Sparked By Frantic Domestic Incident: NYSP
A fleeing suspect was seriously injured after being hit by a car on the highway. The injured man was later arrested, according to police.

BEDFORD, NY — A fraught situation on a Hudson Valley highway proved perilous to both bystanders and those involved.
On Tuesday morning, shortly before noon, New York State Police troopers and investigators from the Somers barracks responded to a report of a domestic dispute inside a vehicle on I-684, in Bedford.
During the incident, the driver of a 2025 Land Rover, 59-year-old John Kijek, of Bedford Hills, was traveling south and stopped in the U-Turn of I-684. At that time, a woman exited the vehicle, according to NYSP.

As a responding state trooper arrived on the scene, Kijek suddenly fled on foot, running across the northbound lanes of Interstate 684, near mile post marker 15.8, state police said. While attempting to cross, he was struck by a 2015 Honda Odyssey traveling north, according to cops.
Kijek sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The driver of the Honda was not injured.

Following an investigation, Kijek was arrested and charged with felony reckless endangerment, felony criminal mischief, felony unlawful imprisonment and menacing.
He was arraigned before a Town of Mount Pleasant judge.
