Famed Mark Morris Dance Group Will Take The Stage At Caramoor
Four works will be performed live in Caramoor's iconic Venetian Theater, at the special program at the magical Katonah venue.

KATONAH, NY — A perfect Hudson Valley summer is made of memories, and some of those special moments will found in the same magical place summer after summer.
Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts will present Mark Morris Dance Group on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the Venetian Theater at 149 Girdle Ridge Road. The performance is part of Caramoor’s 2026 Summer Season, which includes more than 30 performances between June 20 and Aug. 2.
The summer schedule takes place across five unique venues on the Katonah estate, the Venetian Theater, Spanish Courtyard, Friends Field, Sunken Garden and the Music Room. Caramoor has built a reputation as a premier cultural destination nestled on 81 acres of historic gardens and woodlands. The center campus was once the estate of Walter and Lucie Rosen.

Mark Morris Dance Group last performed at Caramoor in 2024 and is scheduled to return with a program of repertory works set to American music by 20th- and 21st-century composers, according to the announcement. The July 30 lineup includes Three Preludes with music by George Gershwin, Northwest with music by John Luther Adams, Jenn and Spencer with music by Henry Cowell, and Dancing Honeymoon with music by Ethan Iverson. Caramoor said all four works will be performed live by the Mark Morris Dance Group Music Ensemble.
Mark Morris Dance Group was founded in 1980 and is celebrating 45 years. The dance company has performed with live music at every show since the creation of the MMDG Music Ensemble in 1996. In the release, Yo-Yo Ma hailed the company as "the preeminent modern dance organization of our time."

A related free program is also planned at Caramoor ahead of the performance. Dance for PD: A Free Movement Class is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at noon at the Diane Moss Education Center at Caramoor. The announcement, the class is open to anyone living with Parkinson’s and their families, friends and care partners, and advance registration is required. The workshop will be led by David Leventhal, program director and founding teacher of Dance for PD, and is presented in collaboration with Mark Morris Dance Group.
Tickets are available online at caramoor.org, by phone at 914-232-1252 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and on site from the box office two hours before each performance.
