Bellmore And North Bellmore School Budget Passes By Large Margin

The district has announced the results of its budget and board of education election.

Bellmore, NY — The Bellmore and North Bellmore School District's 2026-2027 budget passed on Tuesday.

For Bellmore, the budget of $43,308,299 was approved with 410 "yes" votes to 118 "no" votes.

This was an increase of 2.69 percent from the current 2025-2026 $42,174,160.

Incumbent Jay L.T. Breakstone was re-elected with 396 votes as a Board of Education Trustee, and he was running unopposed.

The budget carries a tax levy of $29,818,495, which is an increase of 2.57 percent from the current 2025-2026 $29,071,780. This is below the District's allowable cap.

For North Bellmore, the budget of $73,023,717 passed with 902 "yes" votes to 412 "no" votes.

This was an increase of 3.83 percent from the current 2025-2026 $70,332,774.

Proposition II passed 1,004-310. This proposition includes an authorization to expend from Capital Fund 2022 of a $3,500,000 capital reserve project. The District said this will be allocated to a district-wide select restroom reconstruction, and it will not increase the tax levy.

Incumbent Christine Malloy was re-elected with 1,023 votes as a Trustee to the school's Board of Education.

The budget carries a tax levy of $46,061372, which is an increase of 2.75 percent from the current 2025-2026 $44,829,488.
