Brentwood Schools Ranked Among America’s Best Employers For Women: Report

BRENTWOOD, NY — The Brentwood Union Free School District has been named one of America’s Best Employers for Women by Forbes.

Brentwood ranked No. 59 among 700 employers on the 2026 list, which Forbes published Tuesday in partnership with market research firm Statista.

“This is an incredible honor for the Brentwood Union Free School District and a moment of great pride for our entire school community,” Superintendent Wanda Ortiz-Rivera said.

Ortiz-Rivera said the recognition was especially meaningful because it reflected the experiences of the employees who serve Brentwood’s students and families.

“Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside dedicated professionals who believe in our students, support one another and are committed to making a difference,” she said. “It is their commitment to our students, our families and one another that makes Brentwood such an extraordinary place to learn and to work.”

The rankings were based on responses collected during the past three years from more than 146,000 women working for U.S. companies and institutions with at least 1,000 employees, according to the district.

Employers were evaluated using recommendations from current and former employees, along with a leadership diversity index measuring the representation of women among top executives and board members.

Brentwood was the only public school district in New York included on the list, district officials said.

Board of Education President Eileen Felix said the recognition reflected employees’ efforts to create a supportive environment for students, families and colleagues.

“On behalf of the Brentwood Board of Education, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and deepest appreciation to every member of our district family,” Felix said. “This honor belongs to all of you.”
