BRENTWOOD, NY — Laurel Park Elementary School has received a $2,500 TangerKids Grant Award to support its school Thrift Shop and ongoing community outreach efforts, school officials announced.

The grant was secured by school social worker Jessica Velasquez, who applied for the funding to strengthen the shop as a resource for students and families who may be struggling to afford basic necessities such as clothing and shoes.

With the additional funding from Tanger Outlets at Deer Park, the school plans to expand its ability to meet growing demand for clothing, footwear, hygiene products and other essential items for members of the school community. The Thrift Shop serves as a quiet but critical support system for families, helping ensure students have what they need to feel comfortable and confident in school.
