Brooklyn Overnight Parking Rules End On Key Blocks

Drivers will see alternate side parking move from overnight restrictions to morning street cleaning hours on three blocks.

BROOKLYN, NY— Greenpoint residents on several North Brooklyn blocks will soon avoid overnight alternate side parking restrictions after the city approved new street cleaning hours, according to a community announcement from council member Lincoln Restler.

The New York City Department of Transportation approved changes for blocks that currently ban parking from midnight to 3 a.m. The new alternate side parking hours will run from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on:

  • Commercial Street between Dupont Street and Manhattan Avenue
  • Dupont Street between Commercial and Franklin streets
  • Box Street between Commercial Street and Manhattan Avenue

The notice said the Department of Transportation expects sign replacements to take between three and six months.

“Unfortunately, it will take DOT 3-6 months to update the street signs, but we will do our best to get this implemented as quickly as possible,” Restler wrote in an announcement.
