New Details For Possible Storm Targeting NYC This Weekend
A developing storm is expected to impact New York City over the weekend.
NEW YORK CITY — As New Yorkers continue to dig out from a record-breaking weekend snowfall, another storm is taking shape that could bring more snow to the city, forecasters said.
Bitterly cold air settling over the region this week is expected to set the stage for a potential weekend storm, which could arrive late Saturday and last into Sunday. Temperatures are forecast to remain below freezing across New York City into next week, meaning any precipitation would fall as snow.
As of Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service put the chance of snow in New York City on Sunday at 40 percent, though forecasters cautioned that the outlook could still change as it's still four days out.

AccuWeather meteorologists said the storm is expected to develop in the Southeast before tracking up the East Coast. If the system fails to strengthen, it could be pushed out to sea, but a stronger storm could bring widespread snow to New York City and much of the Eastern Seaboard, potentially developing into a nor’easter.
"How fast the storm strengthens will be a determining factor in the final track of the storm this weekend and whether or not it moves up the East Coast," AccuWeather Long-Range Expert Paul Pastelok said.

The National Weather Service also warned that the storm could bring strong winds, with coastal flooding possible in vulnerable areas. Forecasters said another surge of bitterly cold air is likely to follow the system.
