Storm Could Dump Up To 6 Inches Of Snow On NYC This Weekend, Forecasters Say
Temperatures will feel like they are in the teens and low 20s throughout the week, forecasters said.
NEW YORK CITY — Following a frigid week, this weekend could see up to six inches of snow in the New York City metro area, according to the latest forecast.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a growing potential for "a plowable snowfall event" from Sunday into Monday in New York City.
"There is a moderate potential we could exceed 6 inches of snow from a low pressure system that will pass to our south," the National Weather Service New York City bureau posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Leading up to the weekend snowstorm, temperatures will feel like they are in the teens and low 20s throughout the week, according to the latest forecasts.
The city will warm up slightly on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the mid 30s and 40s, but then drop back down, forecasters said. Saturday in New York City has a high of just 17 degrees, according to the latest forecast.

“Cold air will still be in place the weekend of Jan. 24-25, and there is a signal that there can be a storm during that period, which can help to usher snow across the eastern U.S.," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Peyton Simmers.
It's too early to have specifics, but the snow could make landfall as early as Saturday, and continue through Sunday and possibly linger into Monday, depending on its speed, National Weather Service forecasters said.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11.
Saturday: Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 17.
Saturday night: A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12.
Sunday: A 50 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near 20.
Sunday night: A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13.
