2-Year-Old Toddler Rescued From Locked Car During Heatwave: Police

UPDATE: He was placed inside of police cruiser to cool off before being evaluated at the hospital, Suffolk police say.

NORTH BABYLON, NY — A two-year-old boy was rescued from a locked car at a gas station in North Babylon on Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said

When the mother put her son in the backseat of the car at OK Patroleum on Deer Park Avenue around 3:40 pm., she left her keys in the car and shut the door, causing the doors to lock, according to police.

The drivers side window was broken, and the boy was pulled from the rear of the car where he was sitting by his rescuers, who noted that he was sweating, so he was placed inside of police cruiser to cool off before being evaluated at the hospital, police said.

No charges were filed.
