Dozens Of East Islip Students Honored For AP Success, Robotics Win
Environmental project, 1st-place robotics team and Silver AP Honor Roll distinction celebrated at BOE meeting.

EAST ISLIP, NY — Environmental stewardship, innovative robotics, and outstanding academic achievement were all in the spotlight at the East Islip School District Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 12, as students and staff were recognized for accomplishments that reflect the district’s many strengths.
East Islip Middle School Principal Tara Scully and several students first presented on the school’s restored pond project, highlighting the environmental and educational impact of the initiative. Certificates of appreciation were presented to middle school science teacher Ray Lang, the school’s custodial staff, and representatives from Gibbons Pools for their contributions to the project.
Next, the Flaming Hot Legos robotics team delivered a creative archaeology-themed presentation and was honored for capturing first place at the FIRST Long Island LEGO League qualifier tournament.

East Islip High School Principal Anthony Montemarano then honored numerous 2025 AP Scholar award recipients and students who earned AP certificates, celebrating their commitment to academic excellence and the school’s Silver-level distinction on this year’s AP School Honor Roll.
