EAST HAMPTON, NY — East Hampton town crews are working tirelessly to clean area roads.

Town officials, on Monday, said that under the state of emergency, the town has begun plowing urban renewal roads to ensure emergency service access.

"This work is focused on maintaining access for emergency vehicles, not a broom swept, shoulder to shoulder cleanup," officials said. "Outside contractors began plowing UR roads shortly after 6 a.m. and are prioritizing areas based on density to work as efficiently and safely as possible. This work will continue throughout today and tomorrow as conditions allow."

Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, use caution if they must be on the roads, and keep public streets clear so crews can continue their work safely. Residents are also reminded to clear snow from the roof of their vehicles before driving and, if possible, shovel out fire hydrants near their homes to support emergency response, officials said.
