'It's Getting Dangerous Now': East Hampton Town Highway Supe Urges Caution On Icy Roads

A layer of ice over Sunday's snow led to treacherous roadways, officials say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — After sleet and freezing rain led to ice covering almost a foot of snow across the East End Monday morning, officials are urging caution.

"Good morning, as you're out on the roads, be careful — the roads are treacherous," East Hampton Town Highway Superintendent Stephen Lynch said Monday morning around 5 a.m.

"I'm sending the guys home for six hours to take a break, and then they're coming back in and we're going to salt and finish cleaning everything up," he said. "So please be patient with us — but they definitely need a break, because it's getting dangerous now."
