Man's Body Found In Three Mile Harbor: Police

SPRINGS, NY — A man's body was found in the water in Springs Friday night, police said.

According to East Hampton town police, the incident took place at 7:36 p.m. at Three Mile Harbor, off Folkstone Road.

On Friday night, East Hampton town police and EMS personnel responded after individuals clamming in the area discovered an unresponsive adult male on an exposed grass island in the waters off Folkstone Road, police said.

Equipment consistent with harvesting shellfish was located with the man, police said.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the individual may have suffered a medical emergency prior to his death, police said.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders; his identity is being withheld pending proper notification of family, police said.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, pending the findings of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office, police said.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives have found no evidence of suspicious circumstances and foul play is not suspected, police said.
