East Meadow Man Charged After Crash Leaves Bicyclist Critically Injured: Police

EAST MEADOW, NY — An East Meadow man was arrested after striking a bicyclist in Inwood on Friday, Nassau County police said.

Michael Mayosky, 51, was driving a 2018 Subaru eastbound on Burnside Avenue when he struck a 31-year-old man who was stationary on his bicycle near Nassau Expressway and Burnside Avenue at 10:11 p.m., police said.

The 31-year-old was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition, police said.

Police said the vehicle was impounded for a brake and safety check.

According to police, Mayosky was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, two counts of first-degree vehicular assault, second-degree vehicular assault, second-degree assault, and three counts of aggravated unlicensed operation and reckless driving. Police said Mayosky was arraigned on Sep. 19at First District Court in Hempstead.
