Education is the Future

On August 12, 2026, members of The Women’s Club of Farmingdale donated over $800 in gift cards to Walmart and Target for local students’ back-to-school supplies. This annual program, spearheaded by WCF Welfare Chair Rosemary Emigholz, provides essential tools that give students the readiness, focus, and confidence they need to learn. Items like pencils, paper, and notebooks remove daily barriers, allow active participation in class, and help kids feel equal to their peers. Fresh notebooks, pencils and backpacks boost student confidence and let kids focus on their studies instead of missing tools. In addition, it gives every child an equal chance to learn.

The WCF Book Club, chaired by Elaine Ryan, recently read The Teacher by Freida McFadden which stimulated a lively discussion.Club members also participate in a weekly mahjongg game, chaired by Nancy Carman, and a weekly “walk & talk” fitness routine, (weather permitting), chaired by Ann Lomonte.
