Family Of Five, Including Child, Forced From Home After South Farmingdale House Fire: FD

1 firefighter was evaluated for heat exhaustion after Tuesday's fire, fire marshals say.

SOUTH FARMINGDALE, NY — Four adults and a child were displaced after a South Farmingdale house fire on Tuesday afternoon, and one firefighter was evaluated for heat exhaustion, fire marshals said.

Approximately 60 firefighters responded to a single-story home on Birch Ave. at 12:03 p.m. to a roof fire, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

According to fire marshals, the fire was placed under control within 30 minutes by the South Farmingdale Fire Department with mutual aid from Bethpage, East Farmingdale, Farmingdale, Massapequa, North Massapequa, Seaford, Westbury, Jericho, and Amityville fire departments.

None of the occupants suffered any injuries, but one firefighter was evaluated for heat exhaustion on scene, fire marshals said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the NCFM and Police Arson/Bomb Squad, fire marshals said.
