40-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead After Driving SUV Into Hewlett Pool: PD

HEWLETT BAY PARK, NY — A 40-year-old woman was pronounced dead after driving her GMC into an inground pool, police said.

Nassau County police said Friday that the woman had been driving her GMC on Elinor Road at 9:29 a.m., when she lost control and struck a tree, then a parked car, before driving the car into the pool.

The woman was taken out of the car before police arrived, police said. Police said the officers on the scene tried to save the woman’s life before she was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Friday afternoon, police said an investigation into the crash was ongoing. Police did not identify the woman Friday.
