Laurelton Man Accused Of Punching Uber Driver Through Car Window, Biting, Spitting At Cops: PD

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A Laurelton man is facing criminal charges this week after he punched an uber driver, bit and spat at police officers outside LIJ Valley Stream Hospital, police said.

Nassau County police said 37-year-old Jonathan Sharrock was arrested after an incident that took place at 2:05 a.m. Sunday morning. According to police, Sharrock asked a 51-year-old man to borrow his phone because his car had broken down, was given the phone and became “aggressive” when the man asked for his phone back.

Police said Sharrock then began demanding that the man — who was driving for Uber at the time — give him a ride instead of the customer for whom he was waiting. When the man refused, police said Sharrock started punching him in the face through the window of the car he was driving, injuring his forehead, lip and chin, and damaging the car.

Police said hospital security restrained Sharrock until police arrived, and said that he bit and scratched police officers as they tried to secure him to a stretcher.

Sharrock was then hospitalized, where police said he threatened and spat at police and hospital staff.

After being put in police custody, Sharrock is now charged with one count of second-degree assault, one count of third-degree assault, one count of third-degree criminal mischief, one count of second-degree harassment and one count of making a terroristic threat, police said. Court records show Sharrock has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
