'Violent And Combative': North Valley Stream Woman Charged With Resisting Arrest, Injuring Officers, PD Says

A woman was arrested Monday night after she injured police officers while resisting arrest, police said.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A North Valley Stream woman is facing assault charges Tuesday after she resisted an arrest and injured multiple police officers in the aftermath of a car crash, police said.

Nassau County police said North Fletcher Avenue resident Tiffany Saint-Gilles was arrested after a Mazda SUV crashed into a parked Dodge Dart on West Merrick Road in Valley Stream. According to police, a woman seated in the parked Dodge tried to exchange insurance information with the other driver, who got out of the SUV and started walking away.

After investigating and canvassing the area around the accident, police approached Saint-Gilles to discuss the accident, police said. Upon being approached, however, she became “extremely uncooperative,” pulled her hands away from police to avoid being handcuffed and started kicking her feet, police said.

In the aftermath of the incident, police said Saint-Gilles was taken to the hospital, where she “continued to be violent and combative while receiving treatment.” Two police officers also sustained injuries while at the hospital, police said.

Saint-Gilles was ultimately arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree assault, one count of resisting arrest, one count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration and multiple traffic violations, police said.
