Valley Stream Resident In Serious Condition After Being Pulled From Burning Home: NCFM

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A Thursday morning kitchen fire left a Valley Stream resident in serious condition at Nassau University Medical Center, officials said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said that firefighters were called to a North Terrace Place home in Valley Stream at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, finding upon arrival that there was a fire in the kitchen of a two-story cape-style home.

A resident of that home, officials said, was pulled from the home by Valley Stream firefighters and taken to the hospital where they are in "serious condition."

As for the home, officials said Valley Stream firefighters were aided by Elmont, Hewlett, Inwood, Lawrence-Cedarhurst and Woodmere departments, for a total firefighting force of 65 people. That force, officials said, brought the fire under control in about 45 minutes.

In the aftermath of the blaze, officials said the county fire marshal’s office and NCPD arson/bomb squad are investigating to figure out what caused it.
