Man Seriously Hurt When Drunken Driver Strikes His BMW In Nassau: Police

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY — A man was seriously hurt when a drunken driver crashed into his BMW in Franklin Square on Thursday night, Suffolk police said.

A 24-year-old woman was driving a 2018 Toyota northbound on Franklin Avenue and struck a 2018 BMW driven by a 39-year-old man that was turning westbound, near Cloud Avenue just before 9 p.m., according to police.

The man suffered trauma to his legs and body, and was taken to an area hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, police said.

It was determined that the woman, who is from Franklin Square, was intoxicated, and she was arrested without incident, according to police.

Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety checks, police said.

In addition to DWI, the woman was charged with first-and second-degree vehicular assault, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation. She will be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
