Uniondale’s Zahara Saintyl Selected for All-Long Island Girls Basketball Second Team

Knights Star Finished Second-Highest in Scoring in Nassau County

UNIONDALE, NEW YORK—Uniondale High School senior Zahara Saintyl was recently named to Newsday’s 2026 all-Long Island girls basketball second team. At 20.5 points per game, Zahara was the second-highest scorer in Nassau County and, when paired with her impressive 10 rebounds per game, averaged a double-double. She also demonstrated defensive prowess, averaging three steals per game.

“Zahara was named to Newsday’s list of the top 100 girls basketball players to watch in both her junior and senior years,” said Uniondale High School girls varsity basketball coach Nolan Dunkley. “She was team captain for the past two years and showcased positive leadership and character.”

In addition to her success throughout the 2025–2026 regular season, the 6’1” forward flourished in the postseason. In Uniondale’s two playoff games, Zahara averaged 26 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and four steals per game.

Zahara has achieved remarkable success in the classroom and on the volleyball court at Uniondale High School as well. She ranked in the top 25 academic students of the senior class and has thrived in numerous AP courses. She was the only two-year captain in the history of the high school’s girls volleyball program and was named to Newsday’s 2025 list of the top 100 Long Island high school girls volleyball players.

Following her anticipated graduation from Uniondale High School, Zahara plans to attend college to major in biology and study to be a doctor.
