Manhattanville University’s "Jazz at Reid Castle" Series Continues with “The American Popular Songbook"

PURCHASE, N.Y., September 2026 – Manhattanville University’s successful “Jazz at Reid Castle” concert series will continue with its next performance, “The American Popular Songbook,” on Thursday, September 24 at 7 PM. The event—a must-see for music lovers—will feature renowned jazz musician Mark Morganelli & The Jazz Forum All-Stars performing a wide-ranging selection of cherished compositions by celebrated American composers.

The evening will celebrate timeless classics created by legendary songwriting icons, including Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, George and Ira Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Frank Loesser, Duke Ellington, and more.

“The Great American Songbook represents some of the most enduring, beautifully crafted melodies in musical history,” said Mark Morganelli. “We are thrilled to bring these beloved compositions to life in such an intimate, acoustics-rich venue, giving these timeless classics a vibrant jazz interpretation that honors the original masters while bringing our own fresh energy to Reid Castle.”

Mark Morganelli & The Jazz Forum All-Stars features Morganelli on trumpet and flugelhorn, alongside an ensemble of world-class jazz musicians. Morganelli, a celebrated trumpeter, producer, and founder of the Jazz Forum in Tarrytown, has performed with many of the world’s leading jazz artists and produced over 60 albums throughout his distinguished career.

“The American Popular Songbook” is part of an ongoing series of jazz concerts at Manhattanville University’s historic Reid Castle in Purchase. Following a sold-out debut in February and an acclaimed May performance, the series will conclude its 2026 lineup with a “Holiday Jazz Celebration” on December 10.

Tickets for the "Jazz at Reid Castle” concert start at $35 (advance ticket price) for General Admission. Advance purchase is recommended; a limited number of single-show tickets will be available at the door for $40. Concertgoers can also purchase premium packages, which include a private cocktail table, bottle of Champagne, charcuterie board, and a post-show private meet-and-greet. Tickets are expected to sell quickly due to the limited capacity of the venue.

Reid Castle: An Iconic Venue Rooted in History

Designed by the renowned architect Stanford White, Reid Castle’s history of hosting events began with the marriage of New York Tribune owner Whitelaw Reid and his wife, Elizabeth. In 1888, the pair envisioned transforming their country home into the legendary architectural and landscaping landmark it remains today. Reid Castle features a marbled reception hall and grand rooms inspired by French châteaux, evoking the timeless sophistication of the Gilded Age. Surrounding the castle are grounds designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the mastermind behind New York City’s Central Park.

Mark Morganelli is a renowned jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, promoter, and educator who serves as the founder and Executive Director of Jazz Forum Arts. A prolific musician, Morganelli has recorded six albums, including his most recent works For Miles and Brasil!. Over his career, he has performed with jazz giants such as Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, and Ron Carter. Morganelli established the Jazz Forum club in Tarrytown, NY, in 2017, which presents live music weekly and has been named one of the top jazz venues in the world by DownBeat Magazine.
