GA Woman Accused Of Violently Resisting Arrest In Incident That Hospitalized Cop: PD

JERICHO, NY — A Georgia woman is facing criminal charges in Nassau County this morning after she violently resisted arrest in an incident that left a police officer hospitalized, police said.

Nassau County police said 21-year-old Powder Springs, GA resident Madeleine Fisette was driving on the Jericho Turnpike Thursday night when she pulled onto the shoulder of the turnpike, got out of her car and began “yelling and screaming at officers while impeding the flow of traffic.”

After Fisette ignored officers who told her to get out of the road, police said they attempted to arrest her.

“During the course of the arrest, [Fisette] became violent and combative causing an officer to sustain injuries,” police said. “The injured officer was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment.”

Fisette was also taken to the hospital for evaluation, and is now facing charges of second-degree assault, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. She is scheduled for arraignment Friday in Hempstead, police said.
