Person In Custody After Hicksville Bomb Threat: PD

HICKSVILLE, NY — Hicksville schools entered lockout on Friday morning following a situation at the Hicksville Public Library, a letter to parents from the district read.

A person is in custody after making a statement that was interpreted as a bomb threat while at the Hicksville Public Library on Friday morning, Nassau County police said.

The library was evacuated and nearby schools – Hicksville Middle School, Hicksville High School, and Lee Avenue Elementary School – were placed on a lockout, according to police.

Police said the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad responded, and it was determined there was no threat.

All students and staff are safe at the three schools, according to a letter from Superintendent of Schools Theodore Fulton.

The district stated that the three schools were all on lockout "as a precaution due to an unfolding situation in the community."

According to a letter sent via ParentSquare at 10:41 a.m., the district said an individual at the library was accused of making threats that were not directed at the schools, students, or staff.

The district asked parents and guardians not to attempt to come to the schools at this time, and visitors will not be allowed on campus until the lockout is lifted.

Police told Patch the investigation is ongoing.
