Boycott Cinema Arts Centre

Support Dylan Skolnick

Dear Editor,

As a long-time member of the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, I was extremely saddened to hear of the firing of Dylan Skolnick from his director’s position.

I sometimes attend 2-3 film showings a week at CAC.I also patronize the café for the best popcorn in town every time I go. Since hearing of Mr. Skolnick’s situation, I have not attended one film. And that is very distressing to me, as it is my happy place. But I cannot, in good faith, patronize a business that is so callous in its decision to oust a long-time director who himself and his family put so much into this establishment. Mr. Skolnick and his family created the Cinema Arts Centre and made it the leading independent film cinema on Long Island and beyond.

And after hearing from Dylan himself and several former CAC board members, I concluded the “serious misconduct” cited in the board’s letter to the public was by the board itself, not Mr. Skolnick. The multiple memberships I purchase yearly for myself and my family along with my yearly contributions to the Vic Skolnick Life of Our Cinema Campaign are immediately terminated. I will not patronize the Cinema Arts Centre until Dylan Skolnick is reinstated and the current board is disbanded.

Sincerely,
