Chip City Abruptly Closes All Locations, Including 5 On Long Island

The Queens-born cookie chain said it made the "very difficult decision" to shut down amid significant economic headwinds.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Chip City, the popular cookie chain known for its oversized, gooey cookies and rotating flavors, has abruptly closed all of its locations, including five shops on Long Island.

The company announced the shutdown Friday, saying it had made the decision after efforts to stabilize the business amid what it called significant macroeconomic headwinds.

“Despite extensive efforts to stabilize our business in the face of significant macro-economic headwinds, we have made the very difficult decision to close all of our Chip City locations,” the company said in a statement posted to Instagram. “We are grateful to our dedicated employees and loyal customers who have supported us for the past 10 years.”
