Cold Spring Harbor Names New Assistant Superintendent For Human Resources

COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY — The Cold Spring Harbor Central School District has appointed Dr. Alejandro “Alex” Rivera as its new assistant superintendent for human resources.

Rivera began his new role Sept. 4, bringing experience as a classroom teacher, administrator and higher education instructor to the district.

He most recently served as principal of George A. Jackson Elementary School in the Jericho School District. During his tenure, the school was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School.

Throughout his career, Rivera has served as an elementary school principal in the Jericho, Valley Stream and Uniondale school districts, as well as a middle school assistant principal and classroom teacher.

Since 2009, he has also served as an adjunct professor in Touro University’s Graduate School of Education, working with future educators as they prepare to enter the profession.

Rivera earned his Doctor of Education in Educational and Policy Leadership from Hofstra University and holds New York State professional certifications as both a School District Leader and School Building Leader.

In his new role, Rivera will help lead the district’s efforts to attract, welcome and support teachers, administrators, teaching assistants, support staff and other professionals.

He will also help support the continued professional growth of faculty and staff throughout their careers in Cold Spring Harbor.
