GREENLAWN, NY — Harborfields Central School District has appointed two new instructional leaders to support teachers and expand learning opportunities for students.

The district’s Board of Education approved Meghan White as director of humanities and Donna Kam as director of STEM at its July 7 meeting, district officials said. Both began their new roles July 8.

District officials said Kam’s classroom experience, curriculum leadership and focus on expanding STEM opportunities made her well suited for the role.

Kam holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology Education from York College, a Master of Science in Literacy Education from Mercy College, and School Building Leader and School District Leader certifications from The College of Saint Rose.

“Throughout the interview process, Ms. Kam and Ms. White distinguished themselves not only through their knowledge and experience, but also through their passion for students and their commitment to supporting teachers,” the district said in a statement. “They are the kind of leaders who will inspire those around them, and I am excited to welcome them to Harborfields. We look forward to the positive impact they will have on our schools for years to come.”

The district said White and Kam will help facilitate professional learning, mentor teachers and support students across Harborfields schools.
