Candidate Profiles: Daniel Donahue and Gus Milonakis
Meet the final two candidates running for the Island Trees Board of Education Tuesday.

Daniel Donahue
Donahue has been a resident of Island Trees for 44 years. He graduated from Island Trees High School in 1985. Donahue is married to Laura Rayll-Donahue, with whom he has five children who attend Island Trees Memorial Middle School and SCOPE.
Donahue is a Correction Lieutenant for the Nassau County Sheriff’s Department and a volunteer firefighter for the Levittown Fire Department. He served as Captain of Engine Co. 7 from 2009 to 2010 and volunteers as manager and coach of the Levittown Athletic Club.

Donahue hopes to prepare the district's children for the future with the best possible education while minding the struggles of taxpayers during these tough economic times.
He is running for seat three on the Island Trees Board of Education, against Michael Kutzma and John Fontana.

Gus Milonakis
Milonakis has been an Island Trees resident for 11 years. He has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 20 years, and his daughter, Maggie, is a junior at Island Trees High School.
Milonakis worked in sales and now works in a family owned business. He has volunteered coaching basketball and now is focused on watching his daughter, the captain of the Lady Dawgs basketball team, work on pursuing a college career in the sport. He hopes to keep up the quality of education offered at Island Trees while addressing the community's financial issues. This is his first time running for the Island Trees Board of Education, and he is running against current Vice President Ken Rochon for seat one.
