3-Car Crash In Lindenhurst Leads To DWI Arrest: Police

A driver suffered minor injuries after an SUV triggered a chain-reaction crash on North Wellwood Avenue, police say.

LINDENHURST, NY — A Valley Stream man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a three-vehicle crash that injured another driver in Lindenhurst on Monday night, Suffolk County police said.

Muhammad Adrees, 56, was driving a 2010 Lexus SUV south on North Wellwood Avenue near Perry Street when the SUV rear-ended a 2011 Toyota sedan at about 8:45 p.m., police said.

The impact pushed the Toyota into the rear of a 2008 Chevrolet sedan, police said.

The Toyota driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Adrees was arrested and charged with DWI, police said. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
