Child, 8, And Woman Both Struck By Vehicle In Lindenhurst Tuesday; Child Seriously Injured: Police
The child and woman were taken to area hospitals, police say.
LINDENHURST, NY — Two pedestrians, including a child, were injured after they were struck in a crash in Lindenhurst Tuesday afternoon, police said.
According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place at Wellwood Avenue and Spiegelhagen Street at y 2:34 p.m.
Patrice Mitchem, 62, of Amityville, was traveling westbound on Spiegelhagen Street in a 2010 Chrysler van when she turned left onto Wellwood Avenue, and struck two pedestrians, police said.

A female child, 8, of Lindenhurst was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip in serious but non-life-threatening condition, police said. Leanna Duggan, 20, of Lindenhurst was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Mitchem was not injured, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check; detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
