The Shore Poets Bring "Our Heritage: 250 Years of Poetry" to the Historical Society this August.

LONG BEACH, N.Y. — The Shore Poets will host "Our Heritage: 250 Years of Poetry in America," a poetry reading, wine and cheese reception, and an open mic, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Long Beach Historical Society, 226 West Penn Street, Long Beach, New York. Dr. Jeff Rimland, the poet and author of The Poetry of History, will present readings of original poems inspired by significant historical figures and events in American history. The program will also include music by Long Beach’s own Phil Kennelty, singer-songwriter and musician, whose performance will complement the afternoon's literary celebration. This special afternoon will also feature poetry by the program's Emcees, former Nassau County Poets Laureate Paula Curci, Peter V. Dugan, and Shore Poet Theresa Rosario-Berzner. A limited open mic will follow for attendees to share their poetry in honor of America's literary heritage. Gregory Cioffi, the Nassau County Poet Laureate, will be in attendance as well. The event is sponsored by The Shore Poets, the Long Beach Historical & Preservation Society, Artists in Partnership, Inc., the Acoustic Poets' Network© LLC, and Poets & Writers. Join us as we highlight the role poetry has played in expressing the American experience and share original poems in community.
