Island Park E-Scooter Crash Leaves Man In Critical Condition: PD

A man suffered a severe head injury Tuesday after he was vaulted over the handlebars of his e-scooter, police say.

ISLAND PARK, NY — A 30-year-old man was hospitalized and listed in critical condition Tuesday after an e-scooter crash at the intersection of Austin Boulevard and Saratoga Boulevard in Island Park, police said.

Nassau County police did not identify the man publicly Tuesday night, but said that he had been riding a Teewing e-scooter on the southbound side of Austin Boulevard prior to the crash, which took place at about 4:36 p.m.

According to police, the man stopped short at the corner of Saratoga Boulevard, which propelled him over the handlebars of the scooter and left him with a severe head injury.

In the aftermath of the crash, police said the man was taken to a hospital and listed in critical but stable condition. No other injuries were reported, police said.
