LIRR Service Changes Return This Weekend, Here’s The Branches That Will Change

LONG ISLAND, NY — The Long Island Railroad is continuing its scheduled service changes this weekend amid a summer-long effort to perform signal and track work across Long Island.

Last weekend, work near Elmont-UBS Arena took trains offline at that station in addition to Hollis and Queens Village.

This weekend, there are changes in service coming to the Babylon, Far Rockaway, Hempstead, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches.

On the Babylon, Far Rockaway, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches, switch replacement work will move early-morning trains to modified schedules from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 8 and 9. Prospective LIRR riders can check those schedules here.

Meanwhile, on the Hempstead line, there will be no trains between Manhattan and Floral Park from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Hempstead, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branch trains are also skipping Hollis, Queens Village and Elmont-UBS Arena from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday.

According to the MTA, the work prompting these schedule changes will continue the weekend of Aug. 15 to 17, and over the weekend of Aug. 22 to 24. Information on alternate transportation can be found here.
