Mangoes Sold At Walmart Recalled In NY Over Salmonella Risk

LONG ISLAND, NY — A Mamaroneck produce company has recalled mangoes sold at select Walmart stores in the tri-state area over possible Salmonella contamination, the FDA reported.

Panorama Produce recalled 302 boxes of size 9 Martina-branded mangoes over the potential health risk, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recalled product was distributed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania from Aug. 10 through Aug. 21 and sold at select Walmart stores, the FDA reported.

According to the FDA, the recalled mangoes can be identified by a light blue sticker labeled "Agrofepac, Produce of Mexico," along with PLU number 4584 and UPC No. 07503061948050.

Salmonella can cause serious and potentially fatal infections, particularly in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems, the FDA said. Healthy people who become infected may experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled mangoes, the FDA said.
