Second Arrest Made In Connection With Merrick Carnival Brawl, Police Say
Police say they've arrested a second teenager in connection with Friday night's Merrick Carnival fight that left a 15-year-old concussed.
MERRICK, NY — A second teenager has been arrested in connection with the Merrick Carnival fight that left a 15-year-old concussed and a 13-year-old facing assault charges, Nassau County police reported Tuesday morning.
Police had previously reported that a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl had reported being assaulted near the Merrick LIRR station Friday night, both being dragged to the ground and hit in the head multiple times. The 15-year-old, police said, told officers she had been kicked in the head once she was on the ground.
An investigation led to the arrest of the 13-year-old girl, who is now charged with two counts of third-degree assault and slated to appear in family court at a later date, police said.

Now, police say a 14-year-old girl is also facing charges in connection with both this incident and another assault taht took place near the train station.
Police said Tuesday morning that the newly charged 14-year-old had attacked a pair of 15-year-olds, dragging them to the ground by their hair before striking them in the head. She faces four counts of third-degree assault and is also scheduled to appear in family court, police said.

In the aftermath of the fight, the 15-year-old’s mother told News 12 that her daughter had suffered a concussion after the incident, and that her daughter didn't know the two other girls involved in the incident.
Video of the fight also circulated on social media, with commenters calling the incident "disgusting," "heartbreaking," and lamenting the fact that no one had stepped in to break it up.
