Police say the man became violent and combative while resisting arrest.

BALDWIN, NY. — A 64-year-old Baldwin man is facing DWI and assault charges Monday after he violently resisted arrest after a domestic disturbance turned physical , police said.

Nassau County police said 64-year-old Harry H Williams Jr. was involved in a verbal dispute with a 64-year-old woman Sunday evening when he began pushing and slapping her, at which point she called 911 and Williams left the scene of the altercation in a vehicle.

While officers were investigating the disturbance, police said Williams returned to the scene and began screaming at officers. Police said it was determined that Williams was intoxicated. When officers attempted to arrest Williams, police said he became violent and combative, resisting the arrest and injuring two officers in the process.
