NORTH MERRICK, NY — A child on a bicycle was struck by a vehicle in a Merrick intersection Friday morning, police said.

Nassau County police confirmed that the crash was called in at 7:28 a.m. Friday, with the driver of the vehicle that struck the child remaining at the scene. Nassau County EMS was called to the scene and police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Police did not disclose the age of the child, and said that there are not charges or arrests stemming from the crash at this time. Police could not confirm or deny if the child was on their way to school when the accident occurred.
