10 People Out Of Home After Tuesday Morning Garage Fire, NCFM Says

Firefighters scrambled to a Raynor Street home in Freeport Tuesday after receiving reports that the garage was on fire, officials say.

FREEPORT, NY — 10 people are out of their homes Tuesday after a garage fire on Raynor Street drew the response of 30 firefighters, officials said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal said the fire was called in at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, with first response coming from the Freeport Fire Department. Upon arrival, the firefighters saw that the home’s attached garage was on fire, with the fire extending to the two-story home, officials said. With mutual aid from the Merrick and Roosevelt Fire Departments — which brought the total firefighting force to 30 people — the blaze was brought under control in 15 minutes without any injuries, officials said.

In the wake of the fire, the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office and the NCPD arson/bomb squad are investigating its cause, officials said.
