Hyde Park School Bus Maintenance Team Named 'Garage Stars' Finalist
The Hyde Park Central School District transportation maintenance team was selected from more than 100 nominees.

HYDE PARK, NY — A behind-the-scenes team that helps keep the buses running on time is taking center stage.
Hyde Park Central School District's Transportation Maintenance Team has been selected as a finalist for School Transportation News Garage Stars and will be featured in the August edition of STN magazine.
According to the district, the team was chosen as a top finalist from more than 100 maintenance professionals nominated from across the country. The recognition highlights work that often happens behind the scenes, but supports the daily operation of the district transportation fleet and student safety.

The team includes Donald Cuomo, Christopher Freer, Tyler Lizewski, Craig Schriro, Raymond Shook, Michael Simek and James Watkins. Together, they possess more than 45 years of experience, according to the district.
"I couldn't be prouder of the teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to putting students first that this team has demonstrated," said Supervisor of Transportation Nicole Arteta. "This recognition is a reflection of their dedication, professionalism, and the pride they take in serving our students, families, and district every day."

Superintendent Dr. Pedro Roman also praised the group's role in district operations and student transportation. "Our Transportation Maintenance Team plays an essential role in the safety and success of our students. From maintaining our buses to ensuring students arrive at school and return home safely, their hard work does not go unnoticed," said Hyde Park Superintendent Dr. Pedro Roman. "We are grateful for their commitment to keeping students safe and always putting them first."
School Transportation News is a publication focused on the school transportation industry. According to the district, Garage Stars nominations are submitted by school districts, private transportation providers, school bus dealers, and industry vendors.
The district said nominations are evaluated using a 10-point system to identify honorees. Hyde Park's team will next be featured in the August edition of STN magazine as part of the recognition program.
