HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It will be a rainy and windy day today in the Hudson Valley, with thunderstorms and power outages possible, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather Service in Albany is forecasting up to an inch of rain for most areas, with some locally higher amounts.

A wind advisory is in effect through Tuesday morning for portions of southeast New York, and gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, forecasters said.

Winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour are expected, with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

Tree limbs could be blown down and cause power outages, meteorologists said.

The timeline for the rain and possible thunderstorms will be today and overnight, as Tuesday is expected to clear up and bring sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service.

Today will be mild, with high temperatures around 60 degrees. After the system passes, much cooler weather is expected, with highs on Tuesday reaching around 40, forecasters said.

The rest of the workweek will be dry and increasingly milder, with highs on Friday in the mid-50s, according to the National Weather Service.
