The Woman Struck By Jeep Shortly After Getting Off LOOP Bus Has Died
The driver of the Jeep is not expected to be charged. The victim has been ID'd as a 55-year-old Dutchess County woman by authorities.

BEEKMAN, NY — A deadly accident at a Dutchess County LOOP bus stop is being investigated by authorities.
The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said it continues to investigate a fatal car-pedestrian crash on State Route 55, near Gardner Hollow Road in the Town of Beekman, on Thursday.
Investigators say 39-year-old Marissa L. Burke, of Beekman, was crossing the road after getting off of a Dutchess County LOOP bus when she was struck by a westbound 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Burke was rushed to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep was uninjured.
The bus was not involved in the crash, according to investigators.

"The primary factor in the crash appears to be failure to yield on the part of the pedestrian, at this time no charges have been filed and the investigation is continuing by the Sheriff's Office's Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit," the agency said in a statement. "The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Beekman Fire Department and Route 55 was closed for approximately 3 hours due to the investigation."
