Woman Fell To Her Death In Fifth Avenue Manhole, Police Say
The 56-year-old woman was stepping out of a parked car when she fell, police said.
MIDTOWN EAST, NY — A woman stepped into a manhole and fell to her death on Monday night in Midtown East, New York City Police Department officials said.
According to the NYPD, the 56-year-old woman had stepped out of a parked car at around 11:19 p.m. in front of 653 Fifth Ave., near East 52nd Street, when she fell into the manhole.
Medics rushed the woman to NewYork-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, but she could not be saved, police said.

Police said no arrests have been made, and the medical examiner is investigating the woman's cause of death.
The woman's name is being kept private until family can be notified, police said.
