Victim ID’d In Times Square Stabbing That Ended In NYPD Shooting

MIDTOWN, NY — A New Jersey woman was identified as the victim stabbed to death near Times Square before police shot and killed the suspected attacker Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Erin Piacenti, 32, of Chester, New Jersey, died after she was stabbed near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue, according to the NYPD.

Piacenti was a vice president at Bank of America, working as the Vice President of Business Selection and Conflicts.

Police responded to reports of a disorderly person at the busy Midtown intersection at about 4:24 p.m. Monday, officials said.

When officers arrived, they encountered 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, of Queens, armed with two large knives, police said.

Cisneros advanced toward the officers while displaying the weapons, prompting officers to open fire and strike her, according to the NYPD.

She was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators later learned that Piacenti and a 68-year-old man had suffered stab wounds during the incident, police said. Both were taken to Bellevue, where Piacenti died.

The 68-year-old victim was listed in stable condition, according to police.

The officers involved were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Police recovered both knives at the scene.

The NYPD Force Investigation Division, which investigates police shootings, is continuing to investigate the incident.
