Blizzard Rocks NYC With Over A Foot Of Snow: Here's When The Storm Will End
Officials are urging New Yorkers to stay home during the storm, the city has issued a travel ban until noon Monday.
NEW YORK CITY — New York City has been slammed with snow after a nor'easter brought blizzard conditions and powerful wind gusts to the area.
Steady snowfall began Sunday night, with most areas seeing two inches of snow per hour through Monday morning.

Early snowfall numbers show most of the city got over a foot of snow. Due to the ongoing blizzard conditions, visibility across much of the area has dropped below a quarter mile at times. Wind gusts in the city have reached between 40 and 50 mph.

Officials are urging New Yorkers to stay home during the storm, the city has issued a travel ban until noon Monday, meaning no vehicles are permitted on streets, bridges and highways. City schools are also closed Monday.

According to the latest forecasts, blizzard conditions are expected to continue through at least 10 a.m. Monday.

Around noon and into the afternoon hours, the storm and the steady snowfall will begin to slow down and will become light snow.
By Monday evening, the storm will be out of the area, but windy conditions may still persist.
A light rain/snow mix may return to the area on Tuesday night.

Coney Island, Brooklyn: 16 inches
Williamsburg, Brooklyn: 15.3 inches
LaGuardia Airport: 15.1 inches
JFK Airport: 15 inches
Central Park: 15.1 inches
Dongan Hills, Staten Island: 14 inches
Washington Heights, Manhattan: 12 inches
Blizzard Brings City To A Halt
As of Monday morning, thousands of flights in and out of New York City-area airports have been cancelled.
The city's subway and bus systems are currently running on modified service. Though, New Yorkers should expect delays throughout the day. Agency officials are advising commuters to check the MTA app for the latest updates.
NYC Ferry suspended service Sunday evening and are planning for a delayed restart later on Monday. The Staten Island Ferry is currently running, with ferries departing on 30 minute intervals.
Alternate side parking is suspended citywide due to the blizzard.
