2026 Teachers College Gala to Support Scholarships

Event Details

Rainbow Room, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY, 10112

Teachers College, Columbia University will host the TC Gala to Support Scholarships, an evening to support scholarships for students preparing to lead across the fields of education, health, and psychology.

The gala will honor Teachers College alumnus John B. King, Jr. (Ed.D. ’08, M.A. ’97), the 15th Chancellor of the State University of New York (SUNY), the nation’s largest comprehensive public higher education system. As Chancellor, he has advanced a system-wide agenda focused on student success; research and scholarship; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and economic development and upward mobility. Chancellor King has also launched a Civics and Service Agenda and the SUNY Empire State Service Corps, which provides paid service opportunities for students. He previously served as president of The Education Trust, as U.S. Secretary of Education under Barack Obama, and as New York State’s first Black and Hispanic education commissioner.

The evening will also feature a conversation between King and special guest Judy Woodruff, senior correspondent of PBS NewsHour, as well as a special performance by internationally renowned pianist Byron Wei-Xin Zhou.

Proceeds from the gala will support scholarships, helping ensure broader access to a Teachers College education — and helping to build a strong pipeline of exceptionally prepared educators, psychologists, and health professionals to support the public good.
