The event brings national-level competition back to New York City decades after the city last hosted the USATF Outdoor Championships.
The championships will combine two major competitions: the USATF Outdoor Championships and the USATF Para National Championships, bringing together Olympic athletes, Paralympians and emerging Team USA competitors.
“One hundred and fifty years ago, a group of sprinters, jumpers and throwers gathered in New York for the first national track and field championship,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani said. “This week, we will run it back – and gather even more New Yorkers in the stands.”
The championships will take place at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island, a city-owned athletic facility maintained by the Randall’s Island Park Alliance.
The announcement came through a partnership with USA Track & Field New York, Central Park Track Club and New York Road Runners.
