NEW YORK CITY — NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell disclosed that the league will “look at all the facts” into New York Giants’ co-owner Steve Tisch’s emails to Jeffery Epstein that date back to 2013.
Tisch's name comes up 440 times in files released by the Department of Justice related to Epstein.
In several emails, Epstein and Tisch discussed setting up meetings with multiple women, according to the Athletic. They both made lewd comments about the woman's physical appearances.
When asked by reporters on Monday about the emails, Goodell said the league would look into it but stopped short of saying whether Tisch would face any punishment.
“Well, you may be getting ahead of yourself on the second part, but I would say that absolutely we are going to look at all the facts,” Goodell said. “We're going to look at the context of those, we're going to try to understand that, and we'll look at how that falls under the policy. But I think we take one step at a time. Let's get the facts first.”
In one of the released emails, Tisch offered Epstein two tickets to his suite at MetLife Stadium, and Epstein invited the Giants co-owner to his private island. At this time it is not known whether Tisch visited the island.
Following the publication of the Athletic article, Tisch sent a statement addressing his relationship with Epstein.
"We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy, and investments. I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with."
The Giants have not released a separate statement addressing the emails and Tisch's inclusion in the Epstein files at this time
